City Council candidate in Turku

Who am I?

I am a second-term city councillor from Turku, the chair of the Building and Permit Committee, and a thirty-something urban resident who gets around by Föli and bicycle. In my professional life, I improve youth participation in EU affairs as the Secretary General of the JEF Finland. In my free time, I renovate an old house in the Vasaramäki neighborhood of Turku.

I got involved in politics in my twenties because I believe that Turku and our entire society can be developed to be better for all of us. That vision for something better still guides me, but now with much more experience and knowledge about how to change the world in practice. (Spoiler alert: Often it’s one regulation, document, law, and budget line at a time.)

As to political themes, respect for human rights, improving people’s participation, quality education, sustainable mobility, and preserving the historic city are especially close to my heart. As a councillor, I have been described as cooperative and constructive, but when necessary, a sharply outspoken influencer.

My themes in city council election 2025

Let's Protect Old Turku

We must put an end to the frenzy of demolishing old buildings. Let’s repair and recycle the old, respect the environment when building new. Let’s involve residents in planning the urban environment and new projects.

Nature Belongs in the City

Street trees protect and cool the city, and biodiversity loss can be fought in cities. Let’s save trees, plant new ones, and grow meadows instead of lawns. Let’s build more densely and higher rather than expanding into nature.

Transportation for Future Turku Residents

Turku is growing rapidly, and a growing city needs efficient transportation. Let’s make a decision on the tram based on research and complement Föli with regional commuter trains.
